How to Take Screenshots without Using Any Buttons on iPhone

While it is quite simple to capture screenshots on iPhone with the combination of home / volume and side buttons, it does not always seem like the appropriate or convenient way. Times when the iPhone buttons are damaged / not working or the pronounced buttons on the case installed on the device seem too stiff to offer a quick click, another way to take screenshots without using any button on the iPhone becomes the preferred method. And that’s precisely what I’m going to talk about in this article.

Take screenshots without using any buttons on iPhone

Some people find it difficult to press physical buttons, especially those with different abilities. Hence, there are likely to be some alternative methods that can capture screenshots on iPhone without having to deal with physical buttons.

Thanks to AssistiveTouch, taking screenshots on an iOS device is incredibly easy. Once you’ve set it up, all you need to do to capture the screen is just a quick tap. Additionally, the all-new back-tap feature introduced in iOS 14 also lets you take screenshots by simply tapping the back of your iPhone two or three times.

In this guide, we have discussed both methods so that you can choose the right one for you. So let’s go!

Capture iPhone screenshots using AssistiveTouch

First of all, we need to enable AssistiveTouch and configure it ideally to take screenshots.

  1. Launch the Application Settings on your iPhone.

Launch the Settings app on iPhone

2. Press Accessibility.

Tap Accessibility

3. Press To touch.

Tap the touch option

4. Press Support contact then activate the toggle.

Now activate AssistiveTouch

5. The AssistiveTouch button now appears on the screen. If you want to take a screenshot with one click, press the One click option under the Custom Actions section. After that select Screenshot. From now on, all you need to do to capture the screen is to simply tap the AssistiveTouch button.

Choose a screenshot

Likewise, you can also choose to customize the double-tap or long-tap actions to take a screenshot on your device.

  • What if you don’t want to turn the AssistiveTouch button into a simple screenshot tool? Well, if you want to take full advantage of the AssistiveTouch menu to perform other actions like accessing notifications, going to the control center, or adjusting the volume, make sure you don’t customize the actions.
  • Don’t worry, you can still capture the screenshot using AssistiveTouch. To do this, press the AssistiveTouch menu -> Device -> More -> Screenshot.
