Chat ak Sourit (The Cat and the Mouse) is a wonderful children’s book, with built-in tests, written by the first grade class at Baptist Masikren School, Masikren, Lagonav, Haiti.

This application was developed by Dimitri from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Dimitri is an intern in the Development Internship component of the ACP Open Educational Resources Development Program (http://aconnectedplanet.org/projects/intern-project).

The book is part of a collection of Mother Tongue Books which is a program of the Matenwa Community Learning Center (http://matenwaclc.org/) on Lagonav. Mother Tongue Books and the Matenwa Community Learning Center are supported by the Friends of Matenwa (http://www.friendsofmatenwa.org/).

Chat ak Sourit was originally written in Haitian Creole and has been translated into French and English. Audio in all three languages ​​is provided in the app. The Matènwa Community Learning Center provided the Haitian Creole recordings for the app.

A Connected Planet Foundation (ACP) converted the book, developed and integrated the tests into the app. There is hardly any app in Haitian Creole. ACP therefore started to create its own applications. ACP focuses on educational applications for young Haitian children. Look for other PCA apps on numbers, colors and shapes, fruits and vegetables, and animals. CAP staff and volunteers include professionals from the teaching, education, computer, business, industrial and organizational psychology, and speech therapy sectors.
